Tokyo Kimono Show 2026 "KIMONO Terrasse Stage Show"
～Silk Denim Road～
Saturday, April 18, 2026, 1:00 PM - 1:30 PM
We produced "Silk Denim Road," a stage marking a new step in the world of traditional Japanese attire. We presented a fusion of tradition and innovation using miraculous Okayama-made hybrid material "silk denim," featuring the Nanairo-zome ~Uchu-sora-mon'yo~ (Seven-color dyeing ~Space-sky-patterns~).
Also, the pre-tied obi "Wa no Ha" is a groundbreaking and excellent product that expands the possibilities of materials and clothing.
Guests in the full venue witnessed the future of traditional Japanese attire, starting from here.
The 30-minute stage show, featuring a slideshow, folk music, talk, a workshop that involved the entire audience, and a fashion show, was a joyful time filled with smiles from both the audience and performers.

We were responsible for dressing the koto club members who performed at the entrance ceremony of Mori Educational Foundation Okayama Gakugeikan Seishu Junior High School and Okayama Gakugeikan High School. Following their performance at last year's entrance ceremony, male students joined the club, and this year, a powerful sound was added to the splendor, resulting in a performance that was both impressive to watch and listen to.

We provided traditional Japanese attire instruction to the koto club members of Mori Educational Foundation Okayama Gakugeikan Seishu Junior High School and Okayama Gakugeikan High School.
Since they perform at the entrance ceremony every year, we taught them the names of kimono parts and how to fold them, hoping they would gradually gain knowledge about kimonos. The enthusiastic students remembered everything after just one lesson.

We exhibited and sold our largest number of pre-tied obis, "Wa no Ha."
Although the sales floor primarily features Japanese accessories, by exhibiting and selling silk denim kimonos and obis there, many customers who were interested in traditional Japanese attire stopped by, leading to a significant increase in new customers. "27th Kojima Hina Meguri"
The annual "Kojima Hina Meguri" event brings spring to Kojima.
Every year, the mayor of Kurashiki City, Kaori Ito, was scheduled to wear our silk denim kimono and Kojima obi for the opening ceremony and the denim street parade, but she was absent due to an urgent personal matter. (February 21, 2026)
"KOJIMA Inter-Industry Exchange Meeting 2026" Hosted by Kojima Chamber of Commerce
Held at Kurashiki Seaside Hotel, 36 individuals from 33 businesses related to Kojima gathered to deepen exchanges and promote the regional industry of Kojima more attractively.
KIMONO Terrasse also participated in the corporate exhibition booth and was able to establish deeper understanding and connections with various companies. (February 4, 2026)

Instructed members of the "Children's Kimono Myself Project" who worked as staff for the "13th Kurashiki Shirakabe Hanayome Gyoretsu" (Kurashiki White Wall Bridal Procession) (November 15, 2025)
The "Kurashiki Shirakabe Hanayome Gyoretsu" (Kurashiki White Wall Bridal Procession), organized by the NPO Kurakoi Executive Committee, is held every autumn in the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter as part of an event to revitalize the city center and promote the charm of weddings.
In the bridal procession through the Bikan Historical Quarter, pure children guide the bride and groom while protecting them.
The "Children's Kimono Myself Project" members practiced "wearing their own" formal furisode kimonos for this day. Although they were nervous and rarely smiled during the procession, they were encouraged by cries of "cute" from passersby and managed to fulfill their roles to the end.

The "Garden Party" is an annual Japanese culture experience held at the renowned Okayama Korakuen Garden.
On the Noh stage, an award ceremony for the three kimono awards, given to those who have contributed to the spread and development of kimono culture, is also held.
Girls in grades 2-4 of elementary school appear as assistants to the presenters.
The children practiced "wearing their own kimonos" repeatedly, showing respect to the recipients of the three kimono awards and aspiring to become wonderful bearers of Japanese culture themselves.
We also had time to introduce the "Children's Kimono Myself Project," where children wear their own kimonos, and they were able to showcase their skills on the Noh stage, a tangible cultural property.

Participated in the parade in Omotecho Arcade, Kita Ward, Okayama City, as the "Kojima Obi" group (October 18, 2025)
This event was planned to promote exchange due to deep historical ties: Kusumoto Ine, daughter of Dutch trading house doctor Siebold, lived in Shimo-no-cho (Omote-machi, Kita Ward, Okayama City) for six years during the Edo period, and in the Meiji period, Dutch engineers contributed to flood control in the lower Asahi River basin and the development of Kojima Bay.

The "Kojima Obi" team also participated in the parade, with everyone wearing a "Kojima Obi," to pay homage to those involved in Okayama's textile industry.

Introducing for the first time: a reversible obi combining "Yamatorige Toumon Jidai," which faithfully expresses the beautiful blade patterns of the national treasure "Yamatorige" born in Osafune, Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture, with "Silk Denim," the highest quality denim from Okayama that we handle. On display and for sale at the Tamahagane Jewelry temporary store in front of Osafune Station from August 24 to September 23.

KFP ~Kimono as Everyday Wear Project~
In the summer of 2015, a group was formed under this project name with the aim of preserving traditional ethnic costumes for the future.
Since November 2017, we have actively expanded beyond the group's boundaries with the concept of making kimonos everyday wear, hence the "Kimono as Everyday Wear Project."

"Domestic denim is an Okayama culture that can be transmitted to the world. I was particular about unpretentious, Okayama-like everyday Japanese attire."
Denim fabric, tatami mat borders, and Sanada braids are specialties of Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture. The idea for the "Kojima Obi," a glamorous and practical kimono sash that combines these elements, came about from this inspiration.
She is the head of a kimono dressing school. A few years ago, along with makeup artists and painter friends, she proposed the "Kimono as Everyday Wear Project" (KFP), suggesting various ways to tie obis.
From her daily activities of disseminating "Japanese culture" from Okayama, in October, she was selected as the 25th Okayama Kimono Cultural Person "Kimono Doctor" by the Okayama Kimono Specialty Store Association (Chairman Norihiro Kondo).
"Locals don't know the unique characteristics of Okayama. Compared to Kyoto, which is known for its formal kimono, it's fine for Okayama to be a hub for everyday kimono culture."
In 2016, she had the opportunity to participate in a Japanese culture gathering in Kyoto, and it was there that she conceived the idea of "combining" local textile specialties to "showcase Okayama's uniqueness." The "Kojima Obi" gained significant recognition, and this year it was trademarked and commercialized.
"I've created a form for disseminating information. But what about the heart?"
With the rapid increase in foreign tourists, the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter and other areas are gaining popularity as "townscapes not found in Kyoto." However, a recent challenge is "whether a unique Okayama-style Japanese hospitality culture is being nurtured through interactions and attractions."
This month, she organized an affordable event to learn about "Japanese hospitality" from a Tayu (courtesan) from Shimabara, Kyoto, who visited Okayama to see a friend. About 60 young participants, who are usually far removed from the world of geisha districts, praised it as "discovering an old yet new world."
"An obi is for tying things together. It seems it can tie people and people, cities and cities, the past and the present, and also the future. What kind of message should I send next?"
