◆ KIMONO Terrasse — Kimono-Dressing Instruction & Related Activities

 

October 3 (Sat), 2026 — Participating in "Yoi-Akari"
This will be the third year of the "Shimotsui Yoi-Akari" event. The children who dance in it keep improving quickly, and they're now performing not only at Yoi-Akari but on more and more stages. Come see how much they've grown, and how the town itself is coming alive, as they dance to the Shimotsui-bushi folk song under the magical evening lights.

 

 

 

November 7 (Sat), 2026 — The 13th Okayama Korakuen Japanese Culture Festival (Garden Party)
Members of KKMP (Kids' Kimono "Myself" Project), whom we've been instructing in kimono dressing, will help present the opening ceremony and the Okayama Kimono Culture Award presentation at this "Japanese Culture Festival" held mainly on the Korakuen Noh stage. Last year they appeared in furisode (long-sleeved kimono); this year they'll take on a new challenge. Please look forward to seeing what the children achieve.

KKMP members will also volunteer at a bridal procession.
Elementary-school children, dressed in kimono they've put on themselves, will lead the way for the bride and groom, symbolically "purifying" the path ahead as they walk through the Kurashiki Bikan Historical Area — please come see them. (I'll be accompanying the procession as an attendant to the bride and groom.)
