'Kojima Obi' was created in 2017, using modern materials and contemporary designs.

Obi were originally thin, string-like sashes. In the mid-Edo period, with the end of wars and the stabilization of people's lives, clothing culture flourished.
Obi became longer and wider than in ancient times, and patterns were woven into them, transforming them into beautiful crafts.
People began to enjoy the beauty of obi's colors, patterns, and tied shapes.
In Japan, the custom of giving "long items" to loved ones, wishing them longevity and happiness, continues to this day.

The "Kojima Obi series" is characterized by being made from materials not previously used for obi.
Furthermore, it combines multiple woven fabrics that were originally manufactured for purposes other than obi. Tatami-beri is a fabric that decorates the edges of traditional Japanese mats.
Sanada-himo is Japan's oldest and narrowest woven fabric.
And denim is loved all over the world.
All these materials are easy to handle, allowing for home washing and ironing. These are representative textiles of Kurashiki.

・This obi is made from denim and tatami-beri.
・It was designed as an "eye-catching" half-width obi for adults.
・It is reversible, making it easy to pair with both formal soft kimonos and casual kimonos such as Tsumugi.
・The materials have been improved to be easy to handle, allowing for home washing and ironing.
・All materials are sourced from Kojima, Kurashiki City, the "Textile Town," and sewing is also Made in KOJIMA.

【Product Features】
・The denim fabric is made in "Kojima, the birthplace of domestic jeans," characterized by its excellent twill weave, pleasant feel, and durability.
・While most denim is 100% cotton, this product uses a silk-blend fabric.
・It can be hand-washed at home, is water-resistant, and there's no need to worry if it gets wet in the rain.
・It has a glossy, soft, and luxurious texture.

・Kojima City, Kurashiki, holds approximately 80% of the national share for tatami-beri. It is a traditional industry that has continued for about 150 years.

【Precautions】
・This product can be hand washed.
・Do not use washing machines or dryers. Due to its length, there is a risk of deformation from rotation.
・Avoid using bleach when washing.
・Leaving it wet for a long time may cause color fading. After washing, reshape it and immediately hang it to dry in the shade.
・For dark-colored items, do not wash with white items; we recommend washing them separately.
・When new, there is a slight possibility of color transfer due to sweat, etc., so please be careful.
・Please iron with a pressing cloth at a low to medium temperature.
