【Product Features】
~ Cotton and Silk Twill ~
・A top-tier denim made by twisting three fine cotton threads together for the warp, and using silk thread for the weft.
・It combines the softness of silk with the durability of cotton, bringing out the best qualities of each.
・The fabric has an overall sheen, with a translucent, luminous color that is one of its key attractions.
・Dyes that resist fading are used.
~ Tatami-beri (Tatami Edging Fabric) ~
・Kojima, Kurashiki City accounts for approximately 80% of Japan's production — a traditional industry with a history of about 150 years.
・Being firm and lustrous, this material allows for full, rounded obi knots as well as elegant, refined knots that make the most of its sheen.
~ Cosmic Patterns ~
・This refers to the design applied to the Cotton and Silk Twill surface, drawn using gold and silver pigment.
・It uses the "Shichisai-zome" technique, created by a traditional craftsman certified in Nagoya black-crest dyeing (Kuromontsuki-zome).
・Because the dyeing is done entirely by hand, every piece is one of a kind.

【A Message from the Shop Owner】
Thank you very much for visiting the "KIMONO Terrasse" website.
"KIMONO Terrasse"'s brand, 【Kojima Obi】, is made using textiles produced in Kojima, Kurashiki City, Okayama Prefecture.
It was born in 2017 with the aim of expanding the uses of this local specialty fiber, revitalizing the industry, and preserving its culture for the future.
In ancient times, the obi's original form was a simple thin cord used to keep clothing from opening. By the mid-Edo period, as warfare came to an end, people's lives grew more stable, and a culture of clothing and fashion began to flourish.
The obi grew wider and longer, and patterns were woven into it, transforming it into a beautiful craft.
To this day, the custom remains of giving a long obi — woven with patterns wishing for longevity and happiness — as a gift to someone dear, as a way of wishing them well.
【Kojima Obi】 is a product of modern industry, but by creating obi for traditional Japanese dress, we hope to help revitalize the local industry and, through it, become a lasting presence that passes on Japanese culture and the spirit of its people to future generations. It is with this hope that we devote ourselves to our craft.
