What is a "Kojima Obi"?
Each time I answer a reporter's questions, my dreams expand.
The traditional textile industries of Kojima join hands to create an obi, one of the traditional ethnic garments.
Creating new traditions from old traditions.
My dreams expand, imagining the possibility that this could lead to something as grand as regional revitalization or local development.
Denim, Sanada-himo, and tatamiberi are already united within a single "obi."
May this obi become a bridge between the Kojima textile industry and Japanese culture.
It was like a parent's heart, wishing for their child's future.
Coincidentally, in the same week I was interviewed, the "textile industry of Kurashiki" was recognized as a Japan Heritage site.
The Kojima Obi has caught a favorable wind.
