Sogen-ji is an ancient temple famous for its strict Zen practices.
This temple is located in eastern Okayama.
Every month, the temple holds a ceremony to honor Bishamon-sama.
Only on that day are the general public allowed into the main hall (as it is a training temple, the main hall is not usually open to the public).
I went to the Bishamon-kai with the participants of the kimono event organized by KFP (Kimono as Everyday Wear Project).
As always, the sound of the large drum announced the beginning of the Bishamon-kai.
I straightened my posture.
My heart slowly but surely settles into the moment.
Wearing a kimono seems to deepen that experience.
