Noe is a samue jacket made from elegant and dignified silk denim fabric.
We created it in response to the desire to "live wrapped in quality" even when relaxing at home.
The sleeves have an elegant line with a gentle curve.
We call them "tsubosode" (pot sleeves).
While cylindrical sleeves are for "work" attire, the Noe, with its slight "tamoto" (hanging part of a kimono sleeve), creates a relaxed atmosphere.
Wear Noe and enjoy a relaxing time while gazing at the garden plants.

【A Message from the Shop Owner】
Thank you for visiting our site among many others.
Many people may associate denim with workwear due to its characteristics of being "100% cotton, thick, and prone to color fading."
However, today's Kojima denim from Kurashiki City is more than that.
Over a long period, it has continuously evolved into a fabric that suits the Japanese climate and body.
From this evolution, "silk denim" was born, incorporating "silk," a traditional Japanese industry.
I believe this silk denim is the "denim most suited for Japanese attire."
Silk denim fabric uses cotton for the warp and silk for the weft.
This fabric has three major characteristics:
1. The cotton warp
2. The silk weft
3. The dyeing process
First, regarding point 1:
Typically, denim uses thick, single cotton threads for the warp.
However, this fabric uses high-quality threads made by twisting three ultra-fine warp threads together.
The purpose of this is that by combining thin threads, the thread itself emits a luster, gives thickness to the fabric, and creates suppleness.
However, creating high-quality ultra-fine threads requires significantly more preparation than regular threads.
This kind of manufacturing method is not typically used.
Naturally, it also incurs higher costs.
Preparing warp threads is time-consuming in weaving.
On top of that, processes for twisting thin threads and dyeing threads are required, so to be honest, it is a thread that cannot be easily produced.
Next, regarding point 2, the weft:
"Using silk for the weft"
This, in itself, increases the difficulty of weaving.
A plant-based fiber for the warp and an animal-based fiber for the weft.
The materials are completely different.
Moreover, if it's a high-density fabric, the difficulty further increases.
Since this silk denim fabric is characterized by its luster, it is essential to weave it beautifully.
Therefore, it requires careful and time-consuming weaving.
If the loom's condition is off, defects become noticeable, and adjusting it is not something just anyone can do. Rectification is the work of skilled artisans.
To maintain a certain level of quality, years of weaving expertise and skilled artisans familiar with the settings are required.
Regarding point 3, dyeing:
When it comes to denim, it's "indigo dye."
However, issues of color fading and color transfer are unavoidable.
Therefore, we developed yarn dyeing with reactive dyes, maintaining the appearance and feel of denim, and evolved it into a product.
For sumi (ink) color, sulfur dyes are used.
By encountering this fabric,
・It can be washed at home.
・Despite being silk, it can be ironed.
A kimono with a luxurious texture and easy care was born.
We sincerely hope that you will enjoy your Japanese clothing life even more with this kimono.
