【About the Tailoring】
・Designed with men in mind, but also suitable for women to wear.
・A fusion design of Japanese and Western style (with a chest pocket on the left).
・Tailored as an unlined (hitoe) garment.
・The back-center of the collar (behind the neck) is pre-folded and sewn at that width.
　※This means there is no need to fold it yourself when wearing it.
・The sleeves are shaped in the "ningyo" (doll-sleeve) style used for men's kimono.
・Fitted with "chi" loops for attaching haori cords.
・The main sections are machine-sewn.
・The edges are finished with hand-kuke stitching (a hand-sewing technique), resulting in a garment that fits the body comfortably.

【Aftercare】
・This product can be maintained at home.
・Please gently hand-wash it while folded, using a light pressing motion.
・If using a washing machine, use a gentle water flow and limit the spin cycle to 30 seconds or less.
・Using a tumble dryer may cause the product to become misshapen.
・Please avoid using bleach when washing.
・Leaving the item wet for an extended period may cause the color to fade.
・After washing, reshape it and hang it to dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
・When ironing, please iron from the reverse side of the fabric at a medium heat setting.

Denim, with characteristics such as "100% cotton, thick, and prone to fading," may bring to mind workwear for many people.

However, today's Kojima denim, from Kurashiki City, is no longer limited to that image.

Over a long period of time, it has continued to evolve into a fabric suited to Japan's climate and comfortable against the Japanese body.

Through this evolution, "Cotton and Silk Twill" was born — a fabric woven together with silk, one of Japan's traditional industries.
I believe this Cotton and Silk Twill is the denim best suited to traditional Japanese dress.

Cotton and Silk Twill fabric uses cotton for the warp and silk for the weft.
This fabric has three major distinguishing features:

1. The cotton warp thread
2. The silk weft thread
3. The dyeing process

Regarding (1):
Ordinary denim typically uses a single thick thread for the warp, but this fabric uses a high-quality thread made by twisting together three extremely fine threads.
The purpose of combining fine threads in this way is that the thread itself gains a sheen, while also giving the fabric more thickness and suppleness.
However, producing such a high-quality, extra-fine thread requires considerably more preparation than an ordinary thread — this is not how thread is normally made.
Naturally, this also increases the cost.

Preparing the warp thread already takes considerable effort in weaving. On top of that, the processes of twisting fine threads together and dyeing the thread are also required, so honestly speaking, this is not a thread that can be easily produced.

Regarding (2):
"Using silk for the weft."

This alone increases the difficulty of the weaving considerably.
A plant-based fiber for the warp, and an animal-based fiber for the weft — the materials are completely different.
And the difficulty increases further with high-density weaving.
Because this Cotton and Silk Twill fabric is defined by its sheen, weaving it cleanly and beautifully is essential.
For that reason, it must be woven carefully and unhurriedly.
If the loom falls even slightly out of adjustment, flaws in the weave become easy to notice.
Not just anyone can make the necessary corrections — that work belongs to a skilled artisan.
Maintaining a consistently high level of quality requires many years of weaving expertise and a craftsman experienced with the equipment's settings.

Regarding (3):
Denim is, of course, synonymous with "indigo dye."
But indigo inevitably brings issues of fading and color transfer.
So, using reactive dyes and sulfur dyes, we developed a product that keeps the look and feel of denim intact.
