【Product Features】
~ Cotton and Silk Twill ~
・A top-tier denim fabric made by twisting three fine cotton threads together for the warp, and using high-quality silk thread for the weft.
・A twill-woven fabric that fully retains the distinctive look of denim.
・The fabric has an overall sheen, with a translucent, luminous color that is one of its key attractions.
・It combines the softness of silk with the durability of cotton.
~ Cosmic Patterns ~
・This refers to the design applied to the Cotton and Silk Twill surface, drawn using gold and silver pigment.
・It uses the "Shichisai-zome" technique, created by a traditional craftsman certified in Nagoya black-crest dyeing (Kuromontsuki-zome).
・Because the dyeing is done entirely by hand, every piece is one of a kind.

【A Message from the Shop Owner】
Thank you very much for choosing to visit our site among the many others available.
Kojima denim has, over a long period of time, blended into Japan's climate and continued to evolve so as to feel comfortable on the Japanese body.
From this evolution came a fabric called "Cotton and Silk Twill" — have you heard of it before?

When people hear the word "denim," many still picture workwear — "100% cotton, thick, prone to fading."
But this Cotton and Silk Twill fabric completely overturns that traditional image of denim.
The warp is made by twisting together three extremely fine cotton threads, while the weft is made from carefully selected silk thread.
It combines the durability of cotton with the softness of silk, and its sheen is so refined it could easily be mistaken for 100% silk.
What's more, despite containing silk, it can still be hand-washed and holds up well even in the rain.
I believe this Cotton and Silk Twill is the denim best suited to traditional Japanese dress.

Using this Cotton and Silk Twill, along with other carefully selected Kojima textiles, we create original kimono, obi, and wa-sou accessories.
《 Kimono Features 》
~ You Can Add a Pattern ~
Our kimono are made to order, and after tailoring, our original patterns can be added directly onto them.
Kojima denim is mostly plain (solid color), and nearly all of the fabrics we select as "suitable for kimono," aside from Cotton and Silk Twill, are also plain.
If these were simply tailored as-is, every kimono would end up looking almost identical, like a uniform.
That's why, after the kimono is fully tailored, we add a pattern directly onto it, creating a one-of-a-kind, custom-made piece tailored to each customer's preference.

One such pattern is the "Cosmic Patterns" design, created using the Shichisai-zome technique.
●Shichisai-zome ~ Cosmic Patterns ~
Shichisai-zome is a special technique developed by a traditional craftsman certified in Nagoya black-crest dyeing (Kuromontsuki-zome).
Using only the gold and silver colors from the full range of Shichisai-zome hues, we create an original design on the kimono inspired by the theme of "the cosmos."
Beyond simply choosing the design, we also adjust the density of the coloring and the balance of gold and silver according to each customer's wishes, tailoring a truly one-of-a-kind piece.

The "Cosmic Patterns" design carries a wish within it.
The world is faced with a mountain of challenges — environmental issues, conflict and war, poverty, and more.
Without thinking about these issues together on a global scale, there can be no future for humanity.
We have poured into this kimono design a wish for a world where everyone can live with peace of mind and richness of spirit.
This reflects a long-standing Japanese wisdom: expressing wishes and prayers through pattern, and passing them on to the future.
Let's depict "peace" — a theme shared by the whole world — on kimono and obi, with Japan leading the way in wishing for peace.

Takeda Senko Co., Ltd. of Nagoya, the artisan behind the Shichisai-zome technique, received the "Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award" (Grand Prize) at the 70th National Dyeing Competition in October, Reiwa 7 (2025), for a new Shichisai-zome work.

Traditional Craftsman - Kazuya Takeda -
A technique originally devised by the previous generation, further refined with his own unique sensibility — polished across two generations, parent and child.
That craftsmanship blossomed beautifully, culminating in the Grand Prize at the dyeing competition.
We hope that, in time, "Shichisai-zome" will become a recognized traditional craft, and "Cosmic Patterns" a traditional motif, continuing to adorn kimono and obi for many years to come.
