【About "Wanoha"】
With the motto "beautiful from behind," this is our original pre-tied obi (patent pending), designed to resemble wings soaring into the sky.

※Caution
・To maintain the shape of the decorative knot, the wings are sewn in place at several points with thread. Please do not pull strongly on the wings.
・If all the threads are removed, it will return to a single obi.
・Strong friction or sweat may cause the gold, silver, and sumi (ink) colors to fade or transfer.

※The side parts of the obi that come to the front of the body have tucks of 7cm and 8cm on the left and right, respectively.
By cutting the tuck threads, the length of the obi around the waist can be extended by up to 15cm.
(Please be careful not to cut anything other than the sewing thread of the tucks.)

【Product (Obi) Features】
～Cotton and Silk Twill～
・This is the highest-grade denim, using three twisted ultra-fine cotton yarns for the warp and silk yarn for the weft.
・It utilizes the good characteristics of both silk's softness and cotton's durability.
・It has an overall sheen and its transparent color development is appealing.
・It uses dyes that are resistant to fading.

～Tatamiberi (Tatami Edging)～
・Kojima, Kurashiki City, accounts for approximately 80% of the national production. It is a traditional industry that has continued for about 150 years.
・As it is a material with strong stiffness and gloss, it can create plump obi knots and elegant knots that utilize its luster.

～Cosmic Pattern～
・This refers to the design drawn with gold and silver pigments on the Cotton and Silk Twill side.
・It uses the "Shichisai-zome (seven-color dyeing) technique" by a master craftsman of Nagoya Kuromontsuki-zome (black crested kimono dyeing).
・Since each item is hand-dyed, all items are one-of-a-kind.

For about 30 years, I have worked in kimono-related professions such as a kimono dressing instructor, kimono dresser, kimono consultant, Japanese clothing advisor, and wedding assistant.
Through this experience, I became convinced of one thing:
Japanese attire is "beautiful from behind."

The patterns depicted on kimonos and obis are often described, especially overseas, as "like paintings."
However, our company specializes not in patterns, but in creating obi knots that express the ultimate in sculptural beauty through the obi knot itself, and that charmingly express the rich individuality of the wearer.
We strive to make it possible for anyone to quickly wear such an obi, and to teach this at kimono dressing classes.

In the past, new obi knots were devised by Kabuki actors and geisha, spread among the general public, and became a boom.

Even the most popular "Otaiko Musubi" today is said to have originated when a knot resembling a taiko bridge was devised among the geisha of Fukagawa during the reconstruction of the Kameido Tenjin Taiko Bridge in the late Edo period (1817).

Furthermore, it is also said to have developed from the "Rotaka Musubi" (named after a haiku pen name) devised by the Onnagata Kabuki actor, Segawa Kikunojo II (1741-1773), even earlier than that.

I believe that obi knots are a manifestation of the spirit of people living in those times, who made creative efforts to live a richer life, and of their enjoyment of life.

Currently, overseas, the "back view" of kimonos is particularly attracting attention.
When walking in a kimono in foreign cities, I often receive compliments and have my picture taken.
Among these, I often hear requests like, "Please let me take a picture of your back."

Considering this, there may be no other national costume whose back view is so beautiful.
I believe that our ancestors entrusted the "spirit of living a rich life" to the obi knots and passed it down to us, and now people all over the world see it and feel that spirit.

Just as "Otaiko Musubi" and "Bunko Musubi" have been passed down through the ages, why don't we, living in the present, each become a fashion leader,
and shape the contemporary "spirit of living a rich life" into obi knots, and leave it for future generations?

One such example is the pre-tied obi "Wanoha"

The "Wanoha" obi knot is created with the image of wings soaring into the sky.
The word "hane" (wings) often carries forward-moving images such as "freedom," "leap," and "independence."
